Specializations within the college include biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, health behavior and health promotion, health services management and policy, veterinary public health, biomedical informatics, and clinical and translational science, and population health management and leadership.

Division of Biostatistics

The Division of Biostatistics includes 11 full-time faculty members who are engaged in independent funded methodological and interdisciplinary research as well as teaching graduate and undergraduate students.

Faculty collaborate with researchers from various colleges, centers and institutes, including the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, and the Institute for Population Research.

Significant research interactions exist between the Division faculty and researchers from the Department of Biomedical Informatics, the Center for Biostatistics at Ohio State, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital located in downtown Columbus.

The faculty co-administers and participates in an Interdisciplinary PhD program in Biostatistics with the Department of Statistics, which currently has about 25 students.

The Division also administers the MS (Master of Science) and MPH (Master of Public Health) programs that specialize in biostatistics and participates in the teaching of applied biostatistics courses to various graduate programs and the new, rapidly growing BS program in public health.

The division sponsors several diversity enhancement programs including the Math Alliance (https://www.mathalliance.org/), Florence Nightingale Day (https://fndaystats.org/), and the Fostering Diversity in Biostatistics annual workshop (https://www.enar.org/meetings/FosteringDiversity/).
